米女子ツアー（LPGA）は1日、女子メジャー「エビアン選手権」に欧州最大級の資産運用会社「アムンディ」がタイトルスポンサーとして参加し、大会名称を「アムンディ エビアン選手権」に変更すると発表した。賞金総額は40万ドル増額され、450万ドル（約4億7182万円）となる。契約は2021年から5年間。 同大会は1994年に「エビアンマスターズ」として創設された。2009年に宮里藍が米ツアー初優勝を果たした大会として知られる。13年にメジャーに昇格したことを受けて「エビアン選手権」となった。今回の契約で賞金総額は「AIG女子オープン（全英女子）」と並ぶメジャー大会となる。 大会のフランク・リブード会長は、「このような（コロナ禍という）異例のタイミングでアムンディが参加することで、改めてメジャーの魅力を再確認することができた。これにより、大会の世界的な強さをさらに発展させ、あらゆる面での改善を図り、選手や世界のゴルフ界にユニークな大会を提供することが可能になった」とコメントした。 アムンディはボストン、ダブリン、ロンドン、ミラノ、パリ、東京に国際的な投資拠点を持つ。イブ・ペリエ最高経営責任者は、特にアジア地域での利益と成長に期待を込めつつ、「私たちは今後5年間、ヨーロッパの女性ゴルファーが国際的なゴルフシーンで活躍できるようにサポートすることを約束する」と述べた。 エビアン選手権は昨年、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大の影響で中止となった。今年は7月22〜25日にフランスのエビアンリゾートGCで開催される。 Source
